PROUD YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL TRAINING PARTNER OF MLB

our approach

baseball is best taught by those who've lived it.

At Dodgers Training Academy, every instructor has competed at collegiate or professional levels—not because credentials matter for their own sake, but because lived experience transforms how athletes learn. When young players train under instructors who’ve navigated the same journey they aspire to follow, instruction becomes mentorship. Technical expertise becomes relatable. And development becomes personal.

This belief shapes everything we do, from how we hire our professional instruction team to how we structure every training session. Our R.E.I. framework—Relationship, Environment, and Information—is how we bring this philosophy to life, ensuring every athlete receives instruction that’s not just technically sound but developmentally appropriate and personally meaningful.

THE R.E.I. FRAMEWORK

relationship

The Foundation of Development

Development happens when athletes trust their instructors and feel genuinely seen as individuals, not just players in a lineup. At DTA, our small instructor-to-player ratios (typically 1:6) and consistent instructional assignments create personal, intentional connections between professional instructors and the athletes they lead. When young athletes learn from someone who’s lived the game at the highest level, that shared experience creates authentic mentorship—athletes receive more than technical corrections; they gain insight from people who genuinely understand their challenges because they’ve faced them too.
Relationship
Environment

environment

Freedom to Grow Without Fear

We believe that environment is a major contributor for growing or crushing a player’s love for the game. Athletes don’t fear failure—they fear the judgment that follows it, both from others and themselves. At Dodgers Training Academy, we create training spaces where players feel safe to try unfamiliar movements, make mistakes, and work through the awkward phases that growth requires. When athletes train without worrying about looking foolish or disappointing someone, they take the risks necessary to improve. This judgment-free environment allows each player to perform to the best of their current ability, focus on their individual progression, and develop genuine confidence rather than performing for approval.

information

Relevant, Age-Appropriate Instruction

We believe outdated information & training philosophies, or even relevant information provided to a player who lacks the ability to understand, or implement are both major contributors stunting a player’s development and love for the game. In our system, the relationships are created, the freedom from judgement-based environment has been established, now and only now will the information (molded by professional developers and delivered by professional instructors) penetrate and be received by the individual player at the pace of understanding of how to implement.
Information

our core principals

R.E.I. is our Instructional methodology. These core beliefs shape every decision we make—from who we hire as instructors to how we partner with local leagues to how we price our programs. They ensure our approach remains athlete-centered, accessible, and community-focused.

Individual Attention in Group Settings

Our small instructor-to-player ratios (typically 1:6) deliver personalized attention and feedback within energetic group environments. Athletes receive individual corrections like private lessons while benefiting from the motivation, camaraderie, and competitive spirit of training alongside peers.

Age-Appropriate Instruction
We tailor teaching to match each athlete’s developmental stage—what works for a 16-year-old may be completely inappropriate for a 10-year-old. Our instructors assess not just what athletes need to learn, but when and how they’re ready to learn it, ensuring instruction is always relevant and achievable.
Accessible to Every Athlete
We believe elite instruction shouldn’t be limited by cost, location, or commitment level. Through flexible programs—from single-day camps to year-round memberships—and mobile training options, we remove barriers that typically prevent athletes from accessing professional coaching.
Collaboration, Not Competition
Dodgers Training Academy does not exist to replace recreational leagues, travel organizations, or team coaches—we exist to empower them with professional resources and expertise. By collaborating with the broader baseball community instead of competing with it, we strengthen the entire youth baseball ecosystem.
Process-Oriented Development

We emphasize growth, character, and love of the game over wins, rankings, or producing pros. Our focus on the development journey—meeting athletes where they are and supporting their progress “on the field and in life”—creates lasting impact that extends far beyond baseball.
